About Jim

Born in Nashville, Jim – the son of former Tennessee Governor Prentice Cooper (deceased) and Hortense Cooper, 91, – was always studious. Whether in school, government service or business, Jim never forgot what his parents taught him about the importance of service to God, country, community and to others.

Jim has been the 5th District representative for 8 years. He brings to the job as Congressman prior experience in public service, and a wide array of real life experiences in business, education, law and community service. He and his wife Martha, their three children and family pets live in Nashville. In his free time, Jim enjoys spending time with his family, reading and practicing his banjo.
